Biodiversity - Fluide Malerei mit Lacken
Die biologische Diversität auf der Erde geht kontinuierlich zurück. Das betrifft die Vielfalt der Arten, die genetische Vielfalt innerhalb der Arten und die Vielfalt der bestehenden Ökosysteme. Ohne diese Biodiversität gibt es kein Leben und kein Überleben. Das gilt auch für uns Menschen. Alle Gesellschaften und Kulturen unseres Planeten sind direkt oder indirekt auf die Nutzung einer vielfältigen Natur angewiesen. In Ökosystemen - wie Wäldern, Meeren und Landschaften - greifen alle Bestandteile ineinander und sind voneinander abhängig. Wird eines verändert oder geht verloren, verändert sich das gesamte Ökosystem.
Als Künstler versuche ich, das vielfältige Zusammenwirken in Systemen mit farbigen Acryllacken zu visualisieren. Ich gieße diese auf liegende, großformatige Leinwände. Sie fliessen dort ineinander, mal langsam, mal schnell. An manchen Stellen reissen sie einander mit, an anderen mischen sie sich. Manchmal setzt sich eine Farbe durch. Auf diese Weise entstehen vielfältige Farbverläufe und Strukturen. Diese verändern sich kontinuierlich bis zum Durchtrocknen des Bildes nach Tagen bzw. Wochen.
Für den Betrachtenden entsteht eine Momentaufnahme eines fliessenden Prozesses: dynamisch, kontrastreich, farbkräftig. Dieser visualisiert die Wechselbeziehungen im biologischen Mikro- und Makrokosmos, unser komplexes Ökosystem. Als Künstler agiere ich im Spannungsfeld zwischen Zufall und Steuerung, Kontrolle und Loslassen: Ich setze immer wieder gezielte Impulse (u.a. mit dem Pinsel) und verändere damit den Prozess und die Komposition. Das Bild nimmt meine künstlerischen Akzente auf. Die Schwerkraft steuert die Strömung der Farben. Jeder Moment ist instabil - so entsteht etwas sinnbildlich Unfassbares.
Alles hängt mit allem zusammen.
Jede noch so kleine Veränderung beeinflusst das Gesamte.
Es gibt keine linearen Kausalitäten.
Alles ist im Fluss.
Ein Geben und Nehmen.
Eine Ermutigung zur Demut vor der Natur.
Eine Aufforderung zum Schutz unserer biologischen Vielfalt.
Biodiversity on earth is continuously declining. This concerns the diversity of species, the genetic diversity within species and the diversity of existing ecosystems. Without this biodiversity, there is no life and no survival. This also applies to us humans. All societies and cultures on our planet are directly or indirectly dependent on the use of a diverse natural world. In ecosystems - such as forests, oceans and landscapes - all components interlock and are interdependent. If one is changed or lost, the entire ecosystem changes.
As an artist I try to visualise the manifold interactions in systems with coloured acrylic paints. I pour these onto horizontal, large-format canvases. There they flow into each other, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly. In some places they pull each other along, in others they mix. Sometimes one colour prevails. In this way, diverse colour gradients and structures emerge. These change continuously until the painting dries after days or weeks.
For the viewer, a snapshot of a flowing process emerges: dynamic, rich in contrast, colourful. This visualises the interrelationships in the biological micro- and macrocosm, our complex ecosystem. As an artist, I operate in the field of tension between chance and control, control and letting go: I repeatedly set specific impulses and thus change the process and the composition. The picture takes up my artistic accents. Gravity controls the flow of the colours. Every moment is unstable - thus something symbolically incomprehensible is created.
Everything is connected to everything else.
Every change, no matter how small, influences the whole.
There are no linear causalities.
Everything is in a state of flux.
A give and take.
An encouragement to be humble before nature.
A call to protect our biological diversity.
